Much2C Lamp Collection

‘every little thing has a soul’

It begins, as many designs do, at a worktable scattered with fragments. Discarded bottle caps, faded plastic bowls, objects once held, used and forgotten. In an abandoned school, Nico Schilders and Roger Stemkens create a huge studio. They look at these remnants not as waste, but as designs with a purpose.

Together, they form Much2C, a collaborative design label with a shared belief, that every little thing has a soul.

The Much2C Lamp Collection emerges from this philosophy. At first glance, the lights shimmer with playful familiarity, bright plastics, recognizable shapes, a kind of everyday nostalgia. But step closer, and discover the message behind. To Chop Suey each piece stands as an ode to early pioneers of environmental awareness, and to the urgent reality of the growing plastic soup drifting through our oceans.

The collection does not accuse, it asks for a pause and reconsideration. That humble bottle cap, that overlooked plastic container, each begins as a sketch, an idea carefully shaped at a drawing table.

Now, these light objects travel. Exhibited at Água que Mira, they shine in Portugal for the first time, not just as design artifacts, but as storytellers.

Boutique Retreat Agua que Mira

Mottainai Warehouse treasures to rare to ignore

At Boutique Retreat Água que Mira, every object has a story and some of them can become yours.

We’ve restyled the space around a shared belief in Mottainai: appreciating what already exists and giving it a new life. We’ve gathered one-of-a-kind finds from city streets and quiet Alentejo fields, mixed with handmade pieces created on site. Reused materials, wabi-sabi details, beautifully imperfect objects, some left just as they are, others carefully reworked and elevated. Nothing here is random. Everything has been chosen, revived, and placed with intention.

Some pieces are part of Água que Mira’s permanent soul. Others are for sale. If styling pieces you see around you, catch your eye, here is your chance to take a curated object home with you.

Through The Sunday Notes, Chop Suey shares a bi-weekly highlight,    a closer look at a special object or collection, and the story behind it. Conversation pieces with a past and a future.
